"We moved to the country 3 years ago and had been wanting a large dog for protection and for a family dog. I had looked at hundreds of dogs on Petfinder.com, dogs here in local shelters in Oregon, dogs on Craigslist, etc. We knew we wanted to adopt a dog from a shelter versus a puppy or a dog from a breeder. One night I was laying in bed doing my nightly routine of looking at hundreds of dogs on Petfinder.com and I came across Luna. I knew the moment I saw her face that she was the dog I was supposed to have. I immediately emailed your rescue and filled out an application. I was heartbroken to find out that somebody else had already arranged to get Luna. I was so sad and thought about her every second of the following days. A few days later I got an email stating that the other adopter had something come up and couldn't get her, so she was mine if I still wanted her!! I was ecstatic.
I had several in-depth phone conversations with Marie and Geraldine, as well as countless emails back and forth. They wanted to ensure we were the right fit for Luna and would be her forever home. I was very impressed with their detailed process and concern for Luna's happiness. Once we were approved for adoption we arranged for transport a few weeks later. The process was smooth and painless and the lines of communication were always open, which was key because we live in Oregon and Luna was from Texas! I was sent videos and pictures of Luna.
Luna is the best dog we have ever known, and everyone that encounters her says she truly is a gift and a special dog. She is patient, loving, loyal, and an amazing family dog. If I could get 5 more dogs like her I would! Luna and I have a special bond, she is my shadow and doesn't leave my side! I can't imagine life without her."

Hello, my name is Tally.
In December 2016, I found myself not being wanted anymore by the only family I knew. Along with two of my puppies, we were surrendered to Animal Care Services. A rescue picked us up and then another rescue, They Have A Right To Live took over. They posted our picture along with five other dogs for fostering or adoption.
On December 20th I found myself being taken somewhere. It was a foster home. I was a walking skeleton, My foster was horrified upon laying eyes on me. I was so terrified not knowing what lay ahead.
It was a very rocky beginning. I was a nervous wreck, wasn't house broken and very, very hungry. My foster tried hugging me and she saw the terror in my eyes. I didn't know what she wanted, I didn't even know what a dog toy was for.
Four months later, my foster thought I was ready for my forever home. Upon hearing this, the person I got to know as grandma objected. Grandma said I was already in my forever home, and secretly so did my foster. From a walking skeleton, I am now a 65 pound healthy, happy baby. I have a brother who keeps me company and he is of the lab family as I. No longer do I feel unwanted, hungry or afraid. My mommy and grandma have shown me what love, patience, understanding can do for a scared, discarded dog. I am glad that this house has become my forever home. So please adopt from rescues, There you will find a happy, grateful pet who will give you unconditional love.

"Beauty/Bella has fit very well into her new home. She is a very happy dog and loves people. She also loves food and treats. She likes to play outside and take lots of naps. We saw her picture online and fell in love with her."

"Bella is the most loving , happy dog I have ever had! She is affectionate and playful with her other adopted siblings, Sadie, a chiweenie dog, and a main coon cat named Boots!
I'm so grateful to all the help I received from RTLR when I transitioned from fostering to adopting Bella! And I appreciate my continued involvement to help in donations to such a necessary organization that gives a voice and a means of survival to those who cannot speak for themselves! Keep up the good work RTLR!!"

"This amazing little baby Canelo is a dream come true. I've always wanted a pit bull, and with my PTSD from deployments he's been the best companion. He's just as gentle with our daughter as he is loving. We'll forever be thankful for RTLR for this baby boy."

Patty was rescued from SAPA thru RTLR. They were wonderful to work with. She needed to be pulled right away as she was urgent and had literally hours to live. RTLR stepped in and pulled her, set up her immediate spay, all shots, microchip. Found a terrific Foster Mom in Texas. Also an overnight stay at a workers home, and a ride to meet Patty's Foster. Foster Mom Amber was awesome!! She kept me posted daily. RTL found a Transport Team that came from San Antonio Texas to Suburban Chicago! My Patty is doing fantastic! I have a teenage son, 4 other rescue dogs, a cat, guinea pig, and parakeet. So lots for her to adjust to, but she's thriving and loving life!! Right to Live Rescue are Rockstars!! Thank You All. Geraldine Smart arranged everything

Hello! Im the one who adopted Hero about 4 months ago, and i just felt the need to say, he is one of the greatest dogs i have ever met. I was kind of worried about picking a dog out over the internet, but he turned out to be more than we could have ever hoped for. Hes the sweetest, most well behaved boy ive ever met. He knows his commands, sit, lay down, stay. The other day, i was feeding him and i made him stay before i gave it to him, and i had to go to the bathroom really bad, so i kind of just dropped the food and ran. I came out of the bathroom and he had stayed right where i left him in front of his dish! Hes everyones favorite, and people are always shocked when they find out hes a puppy. Ive been told by people who hate animals that theyd take him in a heart beat. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to adopt him.

Today, we celebrated Hero’s 3rd birthday! Just like every year, I baked him a dog cake and invited all his friends! This year, he also got to celebrate it with a little sister(coonhound puppy)! We’d just like to thank you again for giving us the opportunity to welcome such an amazing dog into our lives
